The Power Of Dog Walking

dog-walking-you

Of course you knew that dog walking was good for your dog!

However introducing a structure into your dog walk could help cure basic behaviour problems, but why?

It is important to provide mental and physical stimulation to our dogs. Every dog should have access to freedom to help release energy, this helps them relax and stay calm. Introducing mental stimulation will help to tire your dog too as well. Mental is more tiring than physical..!

Wild dogs get mental and physical stimulation through..?

In the wild, dogs use up physical and mental stimulation by either migrating to new pastures, guarding territory or hunting. Although the domesticated dog has come a long way from the wolf, the domestic dog still loves to go out for a walk. You only have to see how there energy lifts when they go out to be reminded of this.

Introduce mental stimulation on your dog walk

Through studying my pack of dogs, I saw how restless they became should they miss a walk. The higher the energy dog the more restless they became over a period of time, even if they were walking around the block. You may find that this sounds like your dog walking at the moment, don't worry I can help to put a structure into your dog walking. You may be amazed at the results. See my one to one service. Other clients booked my half day fixed fee, to help with maxiumising their dog walk.

My interpretation off mental and physical stimulation build up

If you like, picture two clear tubes labelled physical and mental stimulation. the less physical exercise given and mental stimulation provided, the more these tubes fill up with unused energy and stimulation. These will eventually overflow and flood around the tubes. If you walk your dog a good walk at the weekend you will find that this mops up a lot of the excess stimulation, however the following week it starts to build up again. So by taking your dog out regularly for a good walk will help keep your dog relaxed.

Put a structure into your dog walk

In many of the dogs I have helped had this build up of mental and physical stimulation build up. After a structured dog walk was designed for those clients, they quickly saw a more calm and relaxed dog. Even some of the stereo type behaviours ceased, like constant pacing, barking and excitement. This was because we had mopped up and contained within the tubes through physical and mental stimulation.

Dog walking is good for us as well

Of course dog walking is not only good for dogs, it is good for us as well. So enjoy your dog walking. If you require more help on achieving a structured dog walk, see my one to one.
