170sqm Of Indoor Dog Training School
I run the largest fit for purpose indoor dog training school here in Northamptonshire. The story of how the school was transformed and how I came to have this chance are in this article. It's a journey I am very proud off. Of course you can enjoy it as well by booking onto the classes held at the school.
The school is a long way off from taking clients
The first day I entered the barn I couldn't believe the opportunity I had in turning this huge space into a training school for dogs. This was in return for training the land owners family dog. I jumped at the chance and cannot thank the family who own the barn enough for giving me this opportunity. Thank you. A life long ambition of opening a training school was about to come true.
The work started on day two
My self and Charlotte Wood started sweeping second day. You can see if you look closely that floor is starting to look at bit clearer. I lost count as to the amount of sweeps it took to clear all the grain up. I didn't care though. It took a few more days to clear and move all what you see in this picture. This was early 2011.
Classes started. Improvements had to be made
I held a pack leader workshop. We made use of the secure training area. which is made secure by Harris fencing and gate entry into the training area. I have access to a field which is almost a mile long as well, so I used that to help people with a structure dog walk. This pack leader work shop was a real success, with clients asking when the next one was.
Improvements were made
You can see in this picture that their is a toilet ..! Don't worry we have had it all enclosed now as later pictures will reveal. I added sofas for relaxation, plus brand new kitchen where free tea and coffee are available. However I have changed the layout of this area as other pictures will reveal.
New cushoined flooring was added to training area
You can see what a difference the flooring made to the training area. Not only did it allow us to be more flexible with the layout for training, but of course it is great for the dogs well being for helping to cushion their joints when jumping. Standards of other dog training school flooring doesn't compare to ours. I wouldn't train your dog on anything under 20mm. Even out door training when the ground is hard can contribute to impact injuries. In this picture their is about 8-10 dogs training at my Saturday AGILIO class.
Ongoing Improvements
As you can see or not see, is the toilet... You may of noticed that the sofas have been moved to open up this space to allow owners and dogs to move around whilst socialising with other clients. The next picture looks down the school from this point.
View down the school from the pict above
You can see there is a dog holding area. This is used only by the dog training team for use of our dogs only. The area you can see for training your dog is 170sqm.
We hope to see you soon
We are actively seeking new premises to hold puppy and dog classes
