How To Stop Dog Pulling
Find out on how to stop your dog pulling, with one of my many up and coming dog forums. Keep a check on my notice board for dates and location. In the mean have a read as to why you may be having problems with this area of training.
Lead the dog
If we allow our dogs to pull us we are sending a signal to the dog that we are not a leader on the walk but a follower. Next time you go dog walking take the lead. Remain calm and spend a few minutes a day practising getting your dog to walk on a loose lead.
Dog pulls on lead
There are a few reasons why you dog already pull’s on lead.
1. You have always accepted this behaviour
2. Your lead setup can have a reflex reaction making your dog pull
3. The type of lead you have can send mixed signals if used incorrectly
4. Your dog has mental and physical stimulation build up
5. Your dog doesn’t see you as the pack leader
6. Your dog is in a high excitement state of mind
7. Your dog is reactive to other dogs
Lead for dogs
By changing or altering you lead and collar setup can make a big difference. Start by making sure your dog’s collar isn’t to loose if you use a lead and collar setup. Avoid pinch collars or spike collars and any other collar or head harness that I would call a quick fix for getting you dog to walk to heel. Start today retraining your dog to walk by your side. But above all, remain calm.
